Traffic Safety Policy

Ellénius Buss is committed to ensuring that all traffic is conducted safely, in line with the vision of zero fatalities or serious injuries in traffic, and continuously improving our practices.

We achieve this by:

  • Ensuring that vehicles are safe for traffic – through regular and documented vehicle maintenance, daily checks, and pre-drive safety inspections.
  • Ensuring that drivers are competent – through training, information, and competency assessments.
  • Ensuring that employees are sober – conducting random drug tests and having alcohol interlocks installed in every vehicle.
  • Ensuring that employees are well-rested – complying with driving and rest time regulations, adhering to the working time law, monitoring driving and rest times via Idha-online, and ensuring compliance with the working time regulations.
  • Prioritizing safety over timetables.
  • Providing all employees with the necessary conditions – driver specifications, timetables, training, a good working environment, etc.
  • Reporting, documenting, and investigating all traffic accidents and incidents – by informing the traffic management, completing an incident report, and documenting traffic accidents and incidents.
  • Complying with customer requirements and the professional traffic regulations.

Alcohol and Drug Policy

At Ellénius Buss, it is not acceptable to report to work with a hangover or under the influence of drugs. We aim to eliminate any potential substance abuse issues and prioritize retaining our employees.

  • Therefore, Ellénius Buss conducts random alcohol and drug tests on 10% of all employees in our traffic agreement to prevent the risk of alcohol or drug impairment or abuse. The random alcohol and drug tests also aim to increase traffic safety and enhance the security for employees and passengers. The tests are conducted by companies with trained samplers and approved testing methods. The samples are always sent to an accredited laboratory.
  • In the event of a positive drug test result or a positive alcohol test, the personnel manager will be contacted, and appropriate action will be taken according to the plan in place. If there is suspicion of impairment, testing may be conducted to confirm or refute such suspicions.
  • For new hires, drug testing may be conducted as part of the hiring process, and this information will be communicated during the employment interview, if applicable.

Policy Against Threats and Violence

Ellénius Buss works to ensure that both employees and passengers feel safe during travel. Therefore, we prevent potential threats and acts of violence by educating and informing our staff about conflict management and providing them with concrete tools for handling such situations.
